Getting Started

What changed

Nothing changed here, this is the standard path every new workspace follows.

How to use it

  1. Create your account. Sign up with email and password, a magic link, or Google/GitHub. No card is required to start.
  2. Name your workspace. This is your organization's name inside DocsKoala. You can change it later in settings.
  3. Review how the pipeline works. Onboarding shows you the three-step loop: a PR merges, AI drafts an article, you approve it. No repositories are tracked yet at this point.
  4. (Optional) Import from your existing site. If you already have docs, an FAQ, or a support/blog page, DocsKoala can scan those public pages and draft starter articles from them, so your help center isn't empty on day one. This step is optional and, on the Trial plan, isn't available. Nothing publishes from an import without your review either.
  5. Connect your repositories. This installs the DocsKoala GitHub App and lets you choose which repos to watch for merged PRs.
  6. Merge a PR (or wait for your next one). Once a repo is connected, the next customer-facing PR you merge produces a draft.
  7. Approve your first draft. Open the Review Inbox, read the draft, edit if needed, and click Approve. It's now live in your public help center.

Where to find it

You can skip any onboarding step with "Skip for now" and finish connecting repositories later from the Connectors page. Site import (step 4) can also be started later from your project settings if you're on a plan that includes it.

Things to know

  • Onboarding order can be revisited: nothing in the app forces you back through it once you've completed it.
  • Repositories are never watched until you explicitly connect them, connecting your account doesn't automatically track every repo you have access to.
